Tree-Trunk Bench by Jurgen Bey

Three bronze casts of chair backs (tree-trunk excluded)

Jurgen Bey designed the tree trunk bench for the park of Oranienbaum. The addition of bronze classical chair backs makes a fallen tree a proper piece of furniture, a crossing between nature and culture. Jurgen Bey makes clear that it is ridiculous to transport trees when they are locally available. Therefore only the chair backs are available for sale.

‘Oranienbaum is a cultivated landscape in which nature and culture meet and influence each other, a protected area where the portraits of the eras have been frozen, and almost forgotten stories can survive. It is where souvenirs from all parts of the world have found a new place to stay and where guests have left their marks. The nice thing about this kind of places is that they are a sort of collection of curiosities, a colourful mixture of objects that all tell their own story’, — says Jurgen Bey.
