Massive Infection Table by Pieke Bergmans

Massive Infection Table, 2008
A large table featuring burnt circles was created in collaboration with glass blower Gert Bulle (Royal Leerdam). The crystal bubbles were pressed directly onto the table, leaving burn marks that showcase a close integration of the two materials. Like real amoebas and bacteria, thirty amorphous forms of liquid crystal ‘invaded’ the table, leaving a distinctive black circle pattern in the wood. Rather than being destructive, these glass shapes are friendly and can serve as vases.
On display at the Droog cafe, 2nd floor of the Droog building.
