After sold-out editions of Une Soirée Française and Una Serata Italiana, @droog travels on to extraordinary Poland.
Step inside a Polski Wieczór on a winter Sunday afternoon @droog. The Polish liqueur is ready and our chef makes Barszcz Soup in the kitchen. Listen to a live performance by Polish violinist Ewa Pepper and singer ata sama. Together they will sing and play Polish classics. In between, the talents explain the story of Polish lyrics. Together, they create a gentle atmosphere of nostalgia and turn the cafe@droog into a warm Polski Wieczór….
Whether you are Polish or not, it promises to be a particularly relaxed and cosy evening! The fireplace is already lit.

About Ewa Pepper
Violinist Ewa Pepper is not your typical classical musician. The creative approach Ewa brings to the classical sound of the violin has been expressed in many genres of music. She has worked together with Bassculture Foundation on dubstep and drum and bass projects along with celebrated frenchcore DJ and a producer, Dr. Peacock, who she performed with as part of Peacock in Concert at AFAS Live in Amsterdam and Defqon.1 Festival.
With Dutch band, De 4Tuoze Matroze, Ewa played at an event attended by former Queen of the Netherlands. Ewa joined DANSOR, an innovative DJ and a producer, during TEDx event in Stadsschouwburg & Philharmonie Haarlem. Ewa’s solo performance opened the Awwwards Conference in DeLaMar Theater in Amsterdam. She creatively participated in studio recordings for Dr. Peacock’s “Medication Time” album. She also performed live during the album release show on Dutch national radio station SLAM FM.
Ewa’s activity on the Dutch music scene has been recognised by the Polish Embassy in the Netherlands. Thanks to its support, she got invited to perform at NATO Headquarters Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum.
Ewa is willing to explore new horizons in her musical journey. She is open for new exciting and challenging projects and collaborations, such as this performance at droog.
About ata sama
ata sama is an r’n’b/ singer-songwriter project of Amsterdam bass player Marta Golka. Born and raised in Poland, she moved to the Netherlands to study jazz at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and obtained her master’s degree in 2022. She performed at festivals and venues such as Paradiso, Patronaat, Into the Woods, Jazzfest Amsterdam, Meer Jazz Festival, Landjuweel and others. As a leader and composer of an instrumental progressive jazz project Josef Kowalsky she released an EP Flares which appeared on several radio stations in Poland (a.o. Radio Nowy Świat and Radio Opole) and got praised for its freshness and eclecticism.
Under the stage name ata sama, Marta performs as a vocalist and songwriter. During the Polish Evening she will sing her favourite songs from Polish artists with accompaniment of a bass guitar. The selection of pieces focuses on lyrics that highlight the beauty and flavours of the Polish language.

Na de uitverkochte edities van Une Soirée Française en Una Serata Italiana, reist @droog door naar het bijzondere Polen.
Stap binnen in een Polski Wieczór op een winterse zondagmiddag @droog. De Poolse likeur staat klaar en onze chef maakt Barszcz in de keuken. Luister naar een live optreden van de Poolse violist Ewa Pepper en zangeres ata sama. Samen zingen en spelen zij Poolse klassiekers. Tussendoor lichten de talenten het verhaal van de Poolse songteksten toe. Samen creëren zij een zachte sfeer van nostalgie en maken ze van het cafe@droog een warme Poolse wieczór…

Over Ewa Pepper
Ewa Pepper is geen typisch klassieke violiste. Haar creatieve gave om het klassieke vioolgeluid met andere muziekgenres te combineren, zorgde voor samenwerkingen met onder andere Bassculture Foundation voor dubstep en drum & bass en met de bekende DJ en producer Dr. Peacock. Samen traden ze op als onderdeel van Peacock in Concert in AFAS Live in Amsterdam en op het Defqon.1 Festival.
Met de Nederlandse band De 4Tuoze Matroze speelde Ewa op een evenement dat werd bijgewoond door voormalig koningin van Nederland. Ata Sama is een r’n’b/zanger-liedjesschrijver project van de Amsterdamse bassist Marta Golka. Geboren en getogen in Polen, verhuisde Marta naar Nederland om jazz te studeren aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam, waar ze haar masterdiploma behaalde in 2022. Ze trad op tijdens bij Paradiso, Patronaat, Into the Woods, Jazzfest Amsterdam, Meer Jazz Festival, Landjuweel en nog meer. Als leider en componist van het instrumentale progressieve jazzproject Josef Kowalsky bracht ze een EP genaamd “Flares” uit, die op diverse radiostations in Polen (o.a. Radio Nowy Świat en Radio Opole) verscheen en werd geprezen om haar frisheid en eclecticisme. Onder het podiumnaam ata sama treedt Marta op als zangeres en liedjesschrijver. De selectie van stukken richt zich op teksten die de pracht van de Poolse taal benadrukken.
