Wooden spoon + silicone

A simple wooden spoon has been transformed into a Mouth Watering Spoon by coating it in pink silicone. Marije Vogelzang: “I coated the spoon with different layers of silicone in various textures. In this way, it seems as if the spoons are covered with cake batter. I like the possibility of silicone making a very textured surface, playing with this idea. It gives the spoons a less slick appearance. The food itself is seldom slick”.

Know as an “eating designer”, Vogelzang’s work often explores the sensory experience of food. Here, she creates a tool meant for stirring, not for eating — reminding us that design can engage our senses in unexpected ways.
